Swapo members in Karibib pay tribute to Geingob

Tributes continue to pour in from across the country as Swapo Party members in the Karibib District gathered in Usakos to celebrate the life of the late President Hage Geingob. They hosted the candlelight ceremony while singing traditional hymns.

They described the late Geingob as one of the best diplomats the nation has seen and an exemplary leader who advocated for peace, prosperity, and unity in the nation. 

OTA revives manhood initiation ceremony

Ondonga Traditional Authority (OTA) chairperson, John Walenga, led a group of 150 participants, ranging from nine to over 70 years old, in a salt collection initiation process over the weekend.

The event occurred at the Etotha Salt Pan, northwest of Etosha National Park in Okatyali Constituency of the Oshana Region.

Walenga told Nampa the initiation ceremony was, among others, aimed at addressing gender-based violence (GBV) and instilling discipline in the participants.

|Khomas teachers awarded

The |Khomas Regional Council held an award ceremony for the teachers in the region.

The awards are meant to recognise, appreciate, and honour all those who have contributed positively to education in the region.

Paulus Nghikembua, the |Khomas Region's director of education, described education as a calling that necessitates one's responsibility, obligation, and accountability.


"We could not do it in 2021, and we could also not do it last year, but this year we are doing it to acknowledge the work that you have done."

IUM holds winter graduation ceremony in Windhoek

The student population at the International University of Management is growing rapidly, with this academic year, the university enrolled more than 16 000.

Since its inception, the IUM has conferred 1,900 qualifications. Of these, 74% were female students.

This information was revealed during the winter graduation ceremony in Windhoek.

Attorney General Festus Mbandeka, in his keynote address, urged the graduates to create job opportunities with the skills they gained.

Over 120 learners awarded as top achievers at the National Science Fair prize-giving ceremony

About 124 learners from across the country were awarded as top achievers during a National Science Fair prize-giving ceremony.

The science fair was co-hosted by the National Commission on Research, Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education Arts and Culture.

The annual National Science Fair aims to recognize learners with the best science Fair project and assist them to explore their environment and provide an educational experience through participation in scientific research.

Namibia encouraged to embrace entrepreneurship

Namibians need to appreciate the importance of entrepreneurship as the main job creator.

These were the sentiments expressed by the Minister of Industrialization and Trade, Lucia Iipumbu, at the 2022 Namibian Business Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Windhoek.

The event, which takes place annually, inducts a distinguished group of entrepreneurs and corporate business leaders in their respective portfolios into the Namibia Business Hall of Fame.

The nominees were inducted under the categories of emerging entrepreneurs, laureates, and honorary laureates.
