Women's representation in parliament worldwide increases

Women's representation in parliament worldwide has increased slightly from 26.5% to 26.9% this year. 

These statistics were collected after over 60 parliaments in 52 countries held their parliamentary elections in 2023. 

The sub-Saharan Africa region accounts for the third highest, at over 27%. 

President Mbumba in Zambezi to join 34th Independence Day celebrations

President Nangolo Mbumba is in Katima Mulilo, Zambezi Region, to join the masses in the celebration of the country's 34th Independence Day.

Dr. Mbumba is accompanied by Prime Minister Saara Kugongelwa-Amadhila, Minister in the Presidency Christina ||Hoebes, and Minister of Defence Frans Kapofi.

Malalankanga Primary School now open

The Zambezi Education Directorate has opened a new primary school in the Kabbe North Constituency.

The school will mainly accommodate children from Libula and Kalimbeza villages who previously had to walk on foot to far-off schools.

NID carries out civic education campaigns

With the general elections slated for November this year, the Namibia Institute for Democracy (NID) is carrying out civic education campaigns countrywide. 

The institute paid a visit to Unam's Rundu Campus to engage students in the "Namibia Needs Me" campaign.
