The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) is optimistic about reaching the 1.6 million target for registered voters in the last week of the exercise. The General Registration of Voters ends on Thursday, August 1.

Namibians who have not yet registered to vote in the November 27 Presidential and National Assembly Elections have only three more days to do so.

The Aminuis Constituency in the Omaheke Region has shown some improvement in voter registration, followed by Otjinene and Gobabis.

To date, the Aminuis Constituency has recorded 71% of eligible voters, followed by Otjinene at 70%, while Gobabis stands at 64%.

Affirmative Repositioning (AR) leader Job Amupanda has described the voter registration process as costly and a barrier to political activity. 

He advocates for the use of identity documents to enable people to freely exercise their democratic right to vote.

This call was amplified by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology for eligible voters to be able to exercise their civic duties come November 27th.
