Civic and voter education is needed to reduce voter apathy among the youth in the upcoming general elections in November.

This is according to the speakers at a civic education workshop in Walvis Bay, who expressed concern over young people lacking interest.

Social Enabled Education Namibia, the American Embassy, and other partners invited young people and political leaders for a civic and voter education session.

The youth were informed that they can shape the future of the country and influence societal matters.

The Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) plans on making a strong comeback in the 2024 general elections.

Its president, Kandy Nehova, announced that the RDP will be returning to the polls, expressing the party's commitment to contributing to Namibia's future. 

The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN), has already started preparing for the upcoming general elections.

Namibians will go to the polls in 2024 to elect a President and members of the National Assembly. 

The ECN on Thursday began engaging with stakeholders on the draft Electoral Amendment Bill, sending a request for stakeholders to dissect the proposed amendments and submit their inputs.
