Mother rescues son from a crocodile attack

A pregnant mother rescued her 4-year-old son from a crocodile attack at Divava Village, Kavango East Region.

The mother and child are both admitted to Andara Hospital.

Pauline Ruhepo Kawena says she and her son accompanied her older sister to the river to wash her clothes.

About 16 young women from the Kavango East Region completed their training in tailoring through the Dreams program.

The graduates also received toolkits comprising of sewing machines, materials, and ironing boards to start their own businesses.

Subsistence farmers in the Kavango East Region are worried that they might face drought this year due to a lack of rain.

It has been three weeks since there has been no rain.

The rain came on time this season, so the farmers thought, and they were hopeful of good yields this time around.

Heavy rains destroy 36 homesteads in Kavango East Region

About 36 homesteads were damaged by heavy rains during this week at Shamaghongo Village in Kavango East Region. Currently some affected villagers are being accommodated in their neighbours' houses. The Councilor of Mukwe Constituency Damian Maghambayi called on good Samaritans to assist the villagers.

Search for rest of body of crocodile attack victim at Rundjara continues

A search team from the Ministry of Environment, Tourism, and Forestry only managed to recover the head of a male victim , who was caught by a crocodile at Rundjara in the Kavango East Region.
