Namibian Police's former Inspector-General, Sebastian Ndeitunga, is the new Governor of the Ohangwena Region, effective tomorrow.

President Hage Geingob appointed Ndeitunga and relieved Walde Ndevashiya of his duties.

State House Press Secretary Dr. Alfredo Hengari made the announcement, stating that Ndeitunga is expected to ensure that all programmes and projects in the Ohangwena are fully implemented in line with the budgetary allocations.

He has further been directed to coordinate his functions with offices, ministries, and agencies to achieve efficient service delivery for the inhabitants of the region.

President Geingob made the changes to regional leadership as stipulated in the provisions of the Special Advisors and Regional Governors Appointment Act.

The former police chief will serve as governor until March 2025.

The appointment of Ndeitunga is one of the changes to different portfolios the President has made recently.

Two months ago, President Geingob relieved Dr. Daniel Kashikola of his duties as Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security and appointed Lucia Witbooi in his stead.

A minor reshuffle saw Natalia |Goagoses being moved to the Ministry of Higher Education as Deputy Minister and Eveline !Nawases-Tayele taking over from her as Deputy Minister of Urban and Rural Development.
