President Nangolo Mbumba has assured President Mokgweetsi Masisi of Botswana that sound neighbourliness will continue, just as the late President Hage Geingob would have wanted.

Mbumba received a courtesy visit from Masisi at State House on Wednesday.

President Masisi was in Windhoek to offer condolences on behalf of Batswana following the death of Dr. Geingob.

The Geingob-Masisi friendship was one that was characterised by respect and good neighbourliness.

Their personal bond often made it easier for respective government ministries and agencies to fast-track the implementation of bilateral projects within a set period, as was the case with the use of identity documents for travel between Namibia and Botswana last year.

Dr. Geingob and Masisi's approach to transparency in governance is often admired even by the oldest democracies, and the two countries are ranked top in Africa by Transparency International.

President Mbumba says these relations would continue just as the late Geingob would have wanted as he briefed Masisi on the smooth transition of power in accordance with Namibia's constitution.

President Masisi consoles the Namibian nation, further applauding President Mbumba and the government for the peaceful transition and holding the nation together during this difficult period.
