An advisor to the Democratic Republic of the Congo's President Felix Tshisekedi, Professor Serge Tshibangu, delivered an urgent letter to President Nangolo Mbumba at Rundu during the President's visit to the Kavango East Region.
"I would love to start by extending greetings from your brother, President Felix Tshisekedi, who has sent me here to speak with you but, most importantly, to hand over a letter that belongs to you on behalf of the Congolese people. I know really one important part of the letter is to remember what the Namibian people have been always doing for the Congolese people; they always stood next to the Congolese people in difficult times and all the challenges that we have, but at the same time, he has sent me here to discuss with you because we would like to settle the ties, especially economic ties, that our two countries have been longing to have since independence."
In response, Dr. Mbumba acknowledged having received the letter, saying, "These are our brothers from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kinshasa, delivering a letter from a president to another president, and it is customary that before we tell you all the details in the letter, at least we must read the letter, so thank you. I hope you will give me the chance to read the letter. Thank you."
