Young people in Erongo Region have informed Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah that they are challenged by a lack of quality public education, unemployment, and the neglect of the boy child.

The vice president, on her campaign trail in the Erongo Region, held an engagement session with youth at Swakopmund.

"What needs to be transformed is the fact that we need access to quality education. We need to make sure that the resources that are being allocated in Swakopmund are being allocated in other towns such as Omaruru, Karibib, and the list goes on, said Erongo NANSO leader, Adele Mkunqwana.

"Given that the high unemployment rate will be a challenge, many youths have yet to be introduced to the work force, and even if they do enter the workforce, they have no experience due to the lack of opportunities," noted the Junior Swakopmund mayor, Berry Kawana.

The Vice President said, "I am an advocate for women's empowerment, and I must proudly say I have done my work, and that's why in front of me I'm seeing a very gender imbalance. We realised the danger, and that's why now we are changing; we already changed the policy to focus on the boy child."

Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah agreed with the young panellists that Namibians' use of social media should not be for destructive purposes.

"And social media can be a tool of mental colonialism, and that's why it's important to know what is around you. Some of us are used to this; we are used to it when they are in the media insulting left, right, and centre. They want to put you out of balance. Yes, they want to put you out of balance. I said, Me, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who fought for this country, knowing why I did it, no one can take me out of balance. I dream of the welfare of the Namibian people, and I will work for the welfare of the Namibian people, and that's why you really have to vote."
