The new Heads of Mission representing France and Venezuela reaffirmed their commitment to enhance collaboration across several key sectors.
The Ambassadors said this as they presented their Letters of Credence to President Nangolo Mbumba at State House today.
Ambassador of France Cécile Vigneau made a commitment to build on relations established by her predecessor with a focus on trade and investment, renewable energy, and cultural and student exchange programmes.
"We have a number of French companies here working in some strategic sectors of the economy, be that water and water is a huge issue, of course, in Namibia energy, be that renewables, hydrogen, also water, waste management, but also sectors like agriculture, tourism, and logistics. And my aim would be really to continue to support these companies. They are willing to come here to invest, and, of course, their private sector. But the role of the embassy is to support them as well, because a very unique thing we have here in Namibia is the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre, which is really dear to our hearts. To the heart of the Namibian government and our hearts, we will continue to promote cultural exchanges and linguistic as well as exchanges."
Ambassador of Venezuela Magaly Henríquez González, after presenting her letter of credence, says the two countries have 34 years of diplomatic relations and they wish to consolidate it.
"Areas of interest that they want to work with together, in the petroleum sector, in the oil sector, in the mining sector, and of course, develop the area of science in education, for the development and well-being of our countries, the relationship between Namibia and Venezuela is based on the welfare of our people."
