Angola's Cunene Province and the |Khomas Region in Namibia are looking at ways to mutually cooperate to solve common challenges facing local authorities.

The delegation headed by the Cunene Governor, Gerdina Didalelwa, met the council this morning.

The week-long visit aims to establish a twinning agreement that will address issues within the two regions.

The two regions want to assist each other to address mutual challenges they face in various sectors such as education, agriculture, healthcare, waste management, and housing.

"Our twinning agreement is at an advanced stage even if we might not sign after this five-day visit. But the intention is that we, at the end of the day, the Chairperson of the |Khomas Regional Council and the Cunene Province Governor, will end up signing an agreement, a twinning agreement between the region and the province of Cunene," said |Khomas Regional Governor, Laura McLeod-Katjirua

The two regions have been negotiating the agreement since November last year, prompting the |Khomas regional council's visit to Angola in December.

The Cunene Province delegation will undertake visits to various project sites, schools, and healthcare centres, as well as ministerial offices.
