Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Works and Transport, John Mutorwa, expressed satisfaction with the progress of three capital projects currently underway in Katima Mulilo.

During his visit, Mutorwa inspected the Katima Mulilo-Liselo farm operated by the Namibia Correctional Service, as well as the Greenwell Matongo Class A police station and the Civic Affairs regional office.

At the Katima-Liselo farm, approximately 70 hectares of maize have been cultivated during the regular rainy planting season, out of a total capacity of over 830 hectares.

Although the farm has not yet been designated for housing officers, there is potential to utilize more than 400 hectares for agricultural purposes.

Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security Minister Dr. Albert Kawana has instructed the Commissioner General of the Namibia Correctional Service, Rafael Hamunyela, to enhance the farm's agricultural capacity.

In response, Hamunyela assured that they are moving forward with implementation despite facing a few challenges.

He noted that the project is progressing well and plans to install an irrigation system this year to allow for a wider variety of crops.

At the Greenwell Matongo Police Station, construction is reported to be over 40 percent complete, ahead of schedule.

Nampol's Inspector General, Joseph Shikongo, provided further details on this progress.

Mutorwa encouraged various ministries to collaborate effectively for improved outcomes in developmental projects, highlighting the ongoing teamwork within the Ministry of Safety and Security.
