The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Youth, Civic Relations and Community Development has praised the Education Ministry for its investment in infrastructure, ensuring that rural schools are not neglected.
Its Deputy Chairperson, Austin Samupwa, addressed the community of Schuckmansburg Combined School in the Zambezi Region on Friday while inaugurating a three-classroom block.
The committee visited the Zambezi Region between Tuesday and Friday, conducting oversight visits to various development projects implemented under the Ministry of Education.
Samupwa urged communities to protect and value their school facilities. "To the teachers, these facilities will provide a conducive environment to deliver quality education and enhance your teaching experience. To the learners, these classrooms are your gateway to a brighter future, a place where your dreams can grow and where your potential can be realised."
Samupwa emphasised that education is a central pillar that supports social progress, innovation and national cohesion.
"Today's event is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when government, communities, and Parliament work together toward a common vision. Let us continue to strengthen this collaboration so that every school in the Zambezi Region and across Namibia can benefit from safe, modern, and inspiring learning environments."
The committee pledged its continued commitment to engaging with the Education Ministry and relevant stakeholders to ensure the pace of infrastructure development matches the urgency of the needs of learners.
