Former President Hifikepunye Pohamba says unity, youth empowerment, and social responsibility remain central to building a stronger Namibia.

He made these remarks during the country's Independence Anniversary celebrations at Oshikango in Helao Nafidi.

Former President Pohamba says Namibia has made steady progress since independence in 1990, citing gains in democracy, peace, and national unity.

He says nation-building remains an ongoing responsibility, urging citizens to guard against division and continue strengthening unity.

His speech was delivered on his behalf by his special assistant, Frans !Gaoseb.

Despite these achievements, Pohamba acknowledges that challenges persist.

He highlights youth unemployment as a major concern and calls for increased investment in education, skills development, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

He also expressed concern over gender-based violence (GBV), describing it as disturbing and calling for decisive action.

Pohamba further encouraged Namibians to embrace their shared identity, saying the country's journey reflects resilience and hope.
