Oshikoto Governor Sacky Kathindi says corruption is an obstacle to socio-economic progress and calls for the need for decisive actions at all levels.
Kathindi addressed a consultative workshop hosted by the Anti-Corruption Commission in Oshikoto focused on drafting the Third National Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan.
Oshikoto Governor Sacky Kathindi said, “Corruption remains one of the greatest threats to Namibia’s socio-economic development and democratic progress. It undermines service delivery and weakens institutions, deepens inequality, and erodes public trust in government structures that are meant to serve the people. This is, therefore, time for us to unite in purpose and reaffirm our commitment to building a corruption-free Namibia.”
ACC Deputy Director Erna van der Merwe highlighted the commission's role, saying, “Since our inauguration, the commission has conducted surveys and corruption risk assessments to determine the public’s perception of corruption in Namibia. Additionally, the commission has conducted many investigations into allegations of corrupt practices reported to or initiated by the commission.”
