The Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, Lucia Iipumbu, has called for discipline and professionalism at the border posts.

Iipumbu made the call as she prepared to visit various border posts and the ministry's projects in the Zambezi Region.

During a staff meeting with members of the security cluster from Immigration, NamPol, and the Namibian Correctional Service, Iipumbu called for professionalism and discipline in the delivery of service.

"Professionalism is declining, but I want us to gradually revive it, ensuring consistency in our responses, as we may receive three or four different responses for the same issue. We then consider the person's appearance and dress code before giving them the answer we think is best."

Iipumbu further stressed the importance of effective communication in all directorates, saying community members are often asked to produce unnecessary documents before they can be assisted.

Members of the security clusters also raised concerns, including a shortage of staff and resources and maladministration.
