Namibia and Tanzania have cemented their long-standing relationship, rooted in the solidarity and cooperation that existed even before Namibia's independence.

The two countries are now focused on translating that historic bond into tangible economic benefits for their citizens.

At a joint press conference at the Tanzanian State House, President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah called for strengthened trade and investment and the removal of bureaucratic barriers to regional commerce.

The two countries agreed to deepen cooperation in agro-processing, youth development, and business partnerships.

Four agreements were signed on defense, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), trade, and people-to-people links, including an accord between Zanzibar and Swakopmund.

Ministers are urged to ensure signed deals deliver results while systematic progress reviews will be conducted.

Tanzania's President Samia Suluhu Hassan said more work is needed to expand economic cooperation.

She noted business costs in 2024 were only about N$128 million and agreed to boost collaboration in food security, the blue economy, energy and oil and gas, livestock, tourism, education, and air connectivity.

This marks President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah's first official state visit to Tanzania since assuming office.
