The Swapo Party Coordinator in the ||Kharas Region, Mathew Mumbala, has urged party members to work in unity to restore regional development and improve service delivery across the region.

He made these remarks at the recent second regional executive meeting in Keetmanshoop.

The meeting served as a platform for members to guide regional and local party structures and make recommendations to the central committee.

Mumbala highlighted the absence of substantive top administrators at the regional and local authorities as some of the challenges the region faces.

The regional coordinator also expressed concern about alleged illegal dismissals and corruption linked to poor leadership.

"We are just not a liberation movement for nothing. Our ideology of solidarity, freedom and justice remains our guiding light. We are committed to uniting the people of Namibia irrespective of race, religion, sex, or ethnic origin into a democratic, vibrant and peace-loving nation."

He further warned that lack of district executive committee meetings and internal divisions are weakening the party's ability to work together and deliver services effectively to the public.

"I note that some DEC members avoid working with councillors due to rivalry over positions. This kind of factionalism can weaken the collective responsibility and delay development initiatives."

He further urged the members to resolve internal issues within the party structures and not through parallel organisations.

The meeting concluded as they welcomed three additional members in the regional executive committee.
