The just sworn-in Keetmanshoop Town Council office bearer, Gertzon Witbooi, has pledged to work with fellow councillors across party lines for the betterment of the residents. 

Representing the Independent Patriots for Change, Witbooi replaced Pieter Skeyer, who was withdrawn by the party for allegedly aligning with Swapo Party councillors. 

Witbooi will serve on the council's management committee. 

"The work ahead includes housing, water, safety, roads, jobs, and ensuring the dignity of our elderly and youth, while also considering persons with disabilities. This is a responsibility we, as residents, must undertake," said Witbooi.

He further appealed to the residents to support the council's economic growth efforts. 

The Mayor of Keetmanshoop, Emrico Blaauw, welcomed Witbooi, stating, "Let us move Keetmanshoop forward. I have listened to your speech, and the nation has listened to your speech. Indeed, that is what we need. So, welcome once again to the Keetmanshoop Municipality, and let us hit the ground running."
