The governors of the Oshana, Oshikoto and Omusati regions have paid tribute to the late former First Lady, Penehupifo Pohamba, describing her as a wise and compassionate leader who united families and touched many lives.
The governors visited the Pohamba family residence at Okanghudi village this afternoon to pay their respects and convey condolences to the bereaved family.
Oshikoto Governor Sacky Kathindi, Omusati Governor Immanuel Shikongo and Oshana Governor Hofni Iipinge joined mourners of Okanghudi, Onhamunama and Omungholyo communities in paying their respects to the family.
The governors described the late Pohamba as a people's person whose wisdom, courage and leadership left a lasting impact, particularly on young and emerging leaders.
"This news here reached all of us in our regions and decided to come and pay our tributes and convey our condolences. We also come here to prepare the programme so that we are on par with the rest of the country," expressed Kathindi.
"She was a very courageous woman and a very strong woman character and fast thinking and also an educator, a woman with wisdom, a woman that we all of us look at. These are the women who take us forward if I want to tape some wisdom," added Iipinge.
The late Pohamba's sister, Maria Nghipangelwa, also described her as a unifying figure who strengthened family bonds and supported relatives through difficult times.
"We lost. Even though the whole nation has lost, we have lost our unifier in our clan. She supported everyone even in the time of her ill health; she will come and assist."
Nghipangelwa said the late Pohamba, as the firstborn in the family, had been a strong pillar of support and a source of guidance to her relatives.
