As the cold and windy weather conditions continue to grip Keetmanshoop, the town's mayor has extended a warm hand to the elderly and less fortunate by donating blankets.

The Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund, in partnership with the Law Reform Commission, has engaged stakeholders in the  ||Kharas  Region to provide their input on the proposed amendments to the MVA Fund Act. 

The consultative meeting was held in Keetmanshoop. 

The Council of Churches in Namibia (CCN) has engaged Keetmanshoop-based community leaders for input on natural resource beneficiation and how communities can derive benefits.

Centenarian and liberation struggle veteran Hulda Isaaks has died at her home in Gibeon in the Hardap Region, aged 107. 

The Witbooi clan's traditional leader, Josephat Witbooi, confirmed the death of Hulda Isaaks. 

The University of Namibia (UNAM)'s Southern Campus celebrated the annual cultural festival in style, showcasing unity in diversity. 

A parade through the streets of Keetmanshoop signalled the opening of the three-day cultural festival held under the theme 'Connecting Cultures, Building Unity'. 

More than 600 new voters across the ||Kharas Region had registered during the supplementary registration of voters to participate in the November Local Authorities and Regional Councils elections by Thursday.

The supplementary registration began on Monday and runs until 19 August. 

Vice President Lucia Witbooi has reiterated the government's commitment to support the welfare and safeguard the rights of people with disabilities.

She said this during an engagement with people with disabilities at Keetmanshoop.

The Governor of the ||Kharas Region, Dawid Gertze, has highlighted the importance of nurturing scientific curiosity from an early age, as it fuels knowledge and drives innovation. 

He made the remarks during the ||Kharas Regional Science Fair award ceremony in Keetmanshoop. 

The Keetmanshoop Municipality has written off municipal debts totalling N$75 million for senior citizens, the unemployed, and people with disabilities. 

In a move to foster urban resilience, the Mariental Municipality, in collaboration with United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction and the GIZ Resilience Initiative Africa, hosted a workshop to strengthen local capacity for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.
