Man gets 18 years for murder in Zambezi

A 31-year-old resident of the Zambezi Region was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment for the murder of his employer in the New Cowboy compound in 2019.

Maswabi Martin Sezuni, who was employed as a barber by a 29-year-old member of the NDF, Protetius Shidute, stabbed his employer with a knife in the neck following an argument over an outstanding payment.

In mitigation for his sentence, Sezuni told the court that he was the father of a five-year-old child and takes care of his father.

Traditional healer denied bail

A traditional healer suspected of murder was denied bail at the Rundu Magistrate's Court on Friday.

This decision comes in light of the deaths of two women at Kandjara Village, located in the Ndiyona Constituency of Kavango East.

The deceased women had sought treatment from the traditional healer, Andrew Haushiku Mberema, prior to their untimely demise.

45-year-old Mberema initially fled the village but later surrendered himself to the police in Ndiyona on Wednesday.

Coster Sililo Mubita appears in court for alleged murder

A 48-year-old resident of Kongola appeared before the Katima Mulilo Magistrate on a charge of murder.

Coster Sililo Mubita was arrested in connection with the murder of Sophia Ngoshi, whose body was found along the Kongola Katima road in February this year.

After his right to legal representation was explained to him, Mubita opted to engage the services of a private lawyer, whom he would pay out of his own pocket.

Rape, murder suspects plead not guilty to all charges in Katutura Magistrate's Court

Matroos Raymond and Rajiv Jossep, accused of raping and murdering 29-year-old Quinteline Bonnita ǂEixas, a mother of four, in 2021, pleaded not guilty to both charges in the Katutura Magistrate's Court.

ǂEixas' s lifeless body was discovered on the premises of a church in Katutura by a caretaker.

Reports say the 29-year-old died as a result of blunt force trauma and injuries to the head after perpetrators used bricks and blunt objects, breaking her skull.

Senior police officer allegedly fatally shoots his wife and himself at Mariental

A senior police officer allegedly shot and killed his wife at Mariental before turning the gun on himself on Thursday. 

Hardap Police Acting Commander, Deputy Commissioner Gesina Nell confirmed the senior cop, who held the rank of inspector, shot and killed his wife inside the Aimablaagte AGS church in full view of other congregants. 

He then left the church and allegedly killed himself at a government home assigned to police officers. 

Deputy Commissioner Nell said the cop was on sick leave when he committed the murder and suicide. 

Man allegedly kills mother in Kavango West

A Kavango West man allegedly murdered his biological mother after he chopped her with a hoe on the head.

Anastasia Tjangano (53) died on the spot.

According to the Namibian Police public relations department, the deceased and her son had an argument that resulted in a fatal blow.

The 25-year-old man has been arrested, and police investigations continue.

Meanwhile, a girlfriend killed her boyfriend in the Khomas Region.

24-year-old Lesley Kamwi was allegedly stabbed with a knife and killed by his 19-year-old girlfriend at Beijing Street, 7 De Laan.

Azaan Madisia, Steven Mulundu to hear their fate on 16 May

Walvis Bay Murder accused Azaan Madisia and her brother Steven Mulundu will hear their fate on 16 May.

The two stand accused of killing and burying 21-year-old Shanon Wasserfall at Walvis Bay in April 2020.

Judge Christie Liebenberg heard the final arguments in the Windhoek High Court on Monday and is expected to give his verdict in May.

The siblings at the start of their trial entered a not-guilty plea on the charge of murder but admitted they buried Wasserfall's body.

Erick Mutanale appears in Katima Mulilo Magistrate's court on charges of murder

A 34-year-old man, Erick Mutanale appeared in the Katima Mulilo Magistrate's Court on charges of murder and defeating the course of justice.

According to the charge sheet, Mutanale allegedly tied the deceased with a wire, dragged him about 30 meters away from his house and buried him in a shallow grave.

After his rights to legal representation were explained, Mutanela, opted to apply for legal Aid to obtain a government-funded lawyer.

Police investigate murder and burial of unknown man in Katima Mulilo

The Police at Katima Mulilo are investigating a case of murder and defeating the course of justice after the body of an unknown man was exhumed at Chefuzwe in the Liselo area.

It is believed that the deceased was assaulted and killed before he was buried in a shallow grave.

The police at Katima Mulilo received a tip-off from members of the public and acted immediately.

A 34-year-old man from Chefuzwe was arrested.

Trial of Christian Kudumo could head to Oshakati High Court

The trial of Christian Kudumo, accused of killing his wife Augustinu Andeline Chicalu last year, could be headed to the Oshakati High Court.

State Advocate Johan Pienaar says the state is expected to submit this month for the case to be heard at the High Court.

The family of Augustinu Andeline Chikalu handed a petition to the Rundu Magistrate's Court against Kudumo's release on bail.

Pienaar told them that the DNA test results were still outstanding and needed to be submitted along with the case docket to the Oshakati High Court.
