The Namibian police are investigating three separate incidents of attempted murder reported over the weekend.
An 18-month-old baby girl was injured after she was thrown from a moving vehicle about 25 km outside Outjo, en route to Kalkfeld.
Police say the child’s parents, who were under the influence of alcohol, began fighting in the back of a vehicle driven by a local farmer who was giving them a ride.
During the altercation, the child was thrown from the moving car.
The driver immediately stopped and rushed the unconscious baby to the hospital. The child was later transferred to Windhoek in critical condition.
Both the 28-year-old mother and the 29-year-old stepfather have been arrested.
On Saturday morning, around midnight, at Tangeni Bar in Outjo's ǂOabatere location, a 27-year-old man was injured after trying to intervene in a fight between the bar lady and two male patrons.
According to NamPol, the dispute stemmed from a disagreement over change after a beer purchase.
When the man stepped in to calm things down, he was beaten and stabbed three times in the chest.
The knife remained stuck in his back when emergency services arrived. He was rushed to Outjo State Hospital and then transferred to Windhoek, where he remains in serious but stable condition.
Police are investigating.
A 21-year-old security guard accidentally shot two construction workers at the Chaka Medical Centre site in Outapi.
The incident occurred when the guard tried to unload a shotgun, but it discharged, hitting two men aged 33 and 24.
Both victims were taken to Outapi District Hospital and are in stable condition.
The guard has been arrested.
