Namibia has officially taken over the rotating chairmanship of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in sport with Botswana for the next two years.

Freddy Mwiya, the Chief Administrator of the Namibia Sports Commission, expressed his satisfaction with the recently held NFA Congress in Windhoek.

As one of the observers during the congress, Mwiya commended the participants for their maturity and adherence to the relevant statutes.

The recently concluded Namibia Annual Sports Awards (NASA) held in the Erongo region has been hailed as a remarkable success by its organizers, the Namibia Sports Commission in collaboration with Namibian Broadcasting Corporation and various stakeholders.

80 participants will be traveling to Botswana from April 25th to 29th for the Podium Performance Program training, which aims to enhance athletes' performance physically, practically, psychologically and mentally in unleashing their maximum potential in preparation for the Ghana Africa Games and Paris 2024.

The David Namwandi Trust launched an annual school marathon ,with the 2023 edition set to take place on the 22nd of April. 

This was revealed at a press briefing at the International University of Management in Windhoek on Monday.

At a recent Standard Bank sponsorship announcement, Director of sport in the Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service, Jo-Ann Manuel, spoke about how the 46 Million Namibia Dollars allocated for the financial year are going to be utilized. 

Different exhibitors and speakers at this year's Sport Expo highlighted the need for all stakeholders to hold hands and grow the sport industry.

The third edition of the Namibia Sport Expo took place at Swakopmund.

The Namibia Sports Commission and its counterpart in Botswana are satisfied with what they have accomplished in the first year of their ongoing memorandum of understanding.

Local athletes, who travelled with the Namibia School Sports Union to South Africa for the annual COSSASA ball games recently, were shocked to see that they were not booked at Porthoff Stroom stadium where the event was scheduled to take place.
