The |Khomas Regional Council visited various project sites in Windhoek to assess progress and engage with site managers.

The project involves the construction of classrooms at two schools, as well as the improvement of A. Shipena Secondary School's sports field.

The construction of the classrooms was necessitated by the high number of learners who failed to secure placement due to the general lack of space in schools.

To address this issue, the |Khomas Regional Council constructed four classrooms at West Mond High School and four more at Monte Christo Primary School.

Mowa Musiwa, Principal at West Mond High School, expressed gratitude to the council for its generosity.

Musiwa used the opportunity to address concerns about the need for more chairs and tables after the council donated 35 chairs for each of the school's classrooms.

Classroom sizes here average between 40 and 50 learners each.

"The regional council provided us with chairs for the classrooms—35 per class, along with a teacher's table and a teacher's chair, for which we are grateful. At least we can start somewhere, although 35 is not enough. It will make a difference because our class sizes range from 40 to 50 learners. So, as we speak, we have at least 45 learners per class."

The regional council also visited the sports field at A. Shipena High School, which is currently being upgraded.

The |Khomas Regional Council has assigned contractors for the construction of a pavilion and the renovation of the ablution facility.

This will provide students with a conducive environment to participate in sports activities, contributing to youth development.

"We benefit from this project, and we are happy with it. This project essentially emphasizes that sports should be one of the primary objectives for the ministry to facilitate talent identification. In this part of town, we do not have adequate infrastructure, and seeing projects like this implemented in our school will aid in talent identification."

Among the sites visited by the Council were the renovation of the Tobias Hainyeko Constituency Office and the revamping of the ablution facility at Immanuel Shifidi Secondary School.

Chairperson of the |Khomas Regional Council, John Moonde, expressed confidence that all projects will be completed by the end of March this year.
