Mafwe Litunga Mamili disappointed by low number of voters

The latest voter registration data suggests Zambezi is among the regions with the lowest number of registered voters thus far.

To date, officials say the region has registered 26,000 voters out of an estimated 77,205 eligible voters in the region. 

Youth attend Voters Youth Conference

Speakers from diverse backgrounds at the Voters Youth Conference encouraged young people to exercise their democratic rights and register to vote in the upcoming elections.

Of the 1,731,790 Namibians eligible to vote, less than 50% (823,761) have so far registered at the different registration points across the country and at the various registration points at all Namibian diplomatic missions abroad since the start of the General Registration of Voters (GRV) on June 3 to July 6.

The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) is concerned about the low turnout at registration points countrywide.

So far, only 823,761 Namibians have registered to take part in the November 27 elections. The figure represents an average of 24,562 registered voters per day.
